14/11 -Xande Ribeiro wants to take the title of Super Challenge Grappling
Jiu-Jitsu Openweight Champion of 2006 says fighting is a question of honor
Super Challenge Grappling gains more weight on its card, which is already filled with stars’ names. Xande Ribeiro, one of the first fighters to have been invited to the competition, contacted the organizers of the event to confirm his participation. “In the beginning I was afraid of not being able to both take part in the seminars and get ready for the event. But on having seen the card with the names of Jacare, Roger, Jeff Monson and so forth there was no way I could stay out of it. One fights of desire, for money or for honor. The one who wins the tournament will be considered the greater grappler of the world”, points out Xande, who is flying this Thursday to Japan for the seminars there. As for the rules that stimulate submission Xande makes a categorical statement: “Those who are holding back the fight progress should worry about these rules. I always fight my way ahead achieving submission. This is how I fight. I have fought with and won against everyone on the card by now. I am capable of taking the title and I will fight for it”, warns Xande, using the opportunity to say that he has already made a plan to train while he is in Japan. “I am really training. I had been training a lot for Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and I am in a good shape. I’ve got a plan for my training without gi in Japan and on my coming back to Brazil I will still have 10 days for training hard for the event”, explains Xande.
Super Challenge Grappling is confirmed for December 8, in a luxurious club Athletico Paulistano, in Sao Paulo. It will reunite 16 fighters from the whole world in the greatest openweight Submition event ever held. The names of some fighters are already confirmed on the card. They are Demiam Maia, Fabrício Werdum, Robert Drysdale, as well as Jeff Monson, Delson Pe-de-Chumbo, Tarsys Humphreys and Ronaldo Jacare. The great Champion will get the main award of USD 15000 (Fifteen thousand US dollars) as well as a Katana from Rickson Gracie’s hands.
