05/12 - Demian bets on natural game at Super Challenge
Little before Super Challenge Grappling, ADCC 2007 Champion Demian Maia appears to be calm as for the event. In Demian’s oppinion the rules motivating the attempts of submission will make his game go more naturally.
‘The fighters will run more risk and as for me, I will be fighting as if I were training at the gym, always trying to achieve submission’, said Demian, also making comments regarding the event’s card and the state of some fighters.
I consider it to be good the fact that the event gives priority to rivalry right during the first fights. Japanese fights are known for this, like K-1, that pared Masato with Buakaw right away. So I get sad at the attitude of some fighters. They complain about the difficulty of finding the sponsors and the lack of grappling events at the good level and with the good award. ‘When there is a person like Mr. Paulo Vasconcellos who is willing to invest without considering the benefit at the first thought, the fighters should have the vision of cooperating to make it a spectacular show, otherwise we will be weakening our own market. I know there are fighters that would like to have the grant and do not accept the invitation or still worse give up participating without any excuse. I am not speaking about the cases in which occurred lesions, but there are many fighters who lack the vision’, said Demian.
Super Challenge Grappling is confirmed for December 8, in a luxurious club Athletico Paulistano, in Sao Paulo. It will reunite 16 fighters from the whole world in the greatest openweight Submition event ever held. The names of some fighters are already confirmed on the card. They are Demiam Maia, Fabrício Werdum, Robert Drysdale, as well as Jeff Monson, Delson Pe-de-Chumbo, Tarsys Humphreys and Ronaldo Jacare. The great Champion will get the main award of USD 15000 (Fifteen thousand US dollars) as well as a Katana from Rickson Gracie’s hands. There will be only 2000 tickets available and you can purchase the tickets on the following site: www.super-challenge.com.
