29/11 - Werdum takes Chute Boxe’s ground at Super Challenge

It has been four months since the black belt and Jiu-Jitsu Champion at ADCC 2007 Fabrício Werdum promises to represent the ground of his new team Chute Boxe at Super Challenge Grappling. ‘People are speaking about the team’s part on foot but I am a witness to the fact that the training on ground is the strongest. There are at least 10 Jiu Jitsu black belts. It means much work, training daily. I have never trained so intensely in my life. I will step on the mat of Super Challenge to represent the ground of Chute Boxe and I want to take the title of the openweight champion that I was deprived of at ADCC this year’, states Werdum in a note directly to another participant  of Super Challenge, André Galvão.

The competition with Galvão in which he defeated Werdum at ADCC 2007 defining thus removing the actual representative of Chute Boxe from the openweight title competition. Werdum affirms that in the rukles of Super Challenge there won’t be marges for gross errors of the arbiters. ADCC has to be updated and new Super Challenge rules have to be accepted. No-one can stand watching a fight locked at submission, the fighters not running any risk. In my fight with Galvão there were 25 minutes and it ended up in 0 x 0. It’s just that I performed one guillotine, finished a round  with a Kimura and performed an arm triangle in the final right when the time was over. Nobody understood the decision of the arbiters in favor of Galvão. If it were at Super Challenge i would have won just because of the attempts to perform submission’, states Werdum, adding that he is planning to repeat that fight improving it. ‘I will love it to overcome Galvão in the revenge with these new rules.
